Vice President of Continuous Improvement and Operations

John Van Grouw has over 40 years of leadership and continuous improvement experience with expertise in managing multi-site, multi-country, large scale manufacturing organizations.  John has led and been successful with several organizational turnaround initiatives with results of increased productivity and profitability while driving positive engagement and leadership development.

He joined International Paper Co. where he led maintenance operations at an integrated paper mill, operations for a $500M cup converting division, and also developed and led a corporate global profit improvement program from concept through implementation. John also served as Vice President of Maintenance for Evraz North America, a $4.5B steel company, and has spent the last 7 years leading operations for 12 sites with Graham Packaging Company, and 8 sites with KIK Personal Care Division.

John holds an MS degree in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School and a BS in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He served for 15 years in command and staff positions in tank and armored cavalry units, with 6 years in Germany. Other assignments included change management for strategic planning at U.S Special Operations Command, and developing simulation models at U.S. Army Concepts Analysis Agency.

John is passionate and looks forward to new challenges and enjoys delivering results by building strong teams, creating empowered organizations and implementing the processes that will deliver continuous improvement. He has international business experience in Asia and Europe and currently resides in the Memphis, Tennessee area with his wife, his 2 children, and 2 grandchildren who also reside in the Memphis area. When away from work, he enjoys scuba diving and underwater photography.
